Knocking sound

Just bought another superhawk today.. Driving it home its got a knocking feeling coming from the forks during braking. Little effort can make it so it. Could this be fork bearings?

Steering head bearings or fork bushings.

a) My money's on steering stem bearings (unless that's what you're talking about).
b) I'd go with allballs tapered bearings as replacements.
c) Another Superhawk? Lucky SOB...

Well actualy got 2 1/2

I bough the mother load from the guy in fl. Frame, whole tail section, wiring harness, short block and ECM, About a month ago. Then this past weekend I came across 98 with jardine exhause high mount, Man. Cct's, 20k, sargent seat(near mint), speedo healer. runs stronger then my current hawk. The vin on both bikes is only a 100 or so differance. From what I can tell, it was a wheelie that went deep south. Plastics are hurt. Tank is about .5 gal less. No frame damage that I can see. Bike drives straight and forks appear to be good. Guy wanted $2400 but I bought it for 1400. Took it up to 100mph no shimmy or shakes. Drove it for 70 miles before parking it. Title is clear not salvage. It's bike is on a tight rope however, not sure if I'm going to part it for my 02 superhawk or sell it complete. The forks have adjustments on the top for spring rate, not sure what that is. My shawk is stock and I don't recal anything special. Came with a mint tool bag with all the goods n stock seat
