introduction and questions about Mods

I say "Hi, My name is Tom and I am a Motoaddict."

You say "Hi Tom"

I'm a 66YO guy living in Winter Haven Florida. My current stable of bikes is
1985 Honde V65 Sabre,

93 Honda ST Adventure Tour see here http://mysite.verizon.net/teblum/June%2021.htm

00 Suzuki SV650 naked.

I just agreed to buy the 98 Superhawk for sale in these classifieds.

I intend to convert it into a "Poor man's KTM 940 Adventure". The object is to obtain a lighter Adventure Tourer than my ST

Along those lines:

1.I will do the superbling moto bar conversion.
2 I will eventually do a tank conversion for more fuel capacity.
3. I'm thinking of those Army Mess Panniers as appropriate.

The questions:
1 I'd like more suspension travel. Would anyone know if the front end from a 650 D/P would be a bolt on? ( like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2000-...QQcmdZViewItem )
What other alternatives for the front are there?
2. To get more travel in the rear, could I fab a new link? Or find a longer shock. Other alternatives?

I hope you don't think this is blasphemy. The SuperHawk is beautiful as designed. Honda should have imported the Varadero into the US. Then I wouldn't have to do what I'm doing.

But they didn't

welcome Tom,

It sounds like it would be easer to go maybe to Canada. Buy the bike and drive it home. Or fly to England buy the bike and ship it home. Just a thought. I don't know if the Varadero is imported to Canada but its worth a look.

intro

Thanks for the welcome>
Lefin, I love doing stuff like this.

If I wanted to "buy my way out", I'd just get a Vstrom.

I'll probably spend as much when it's over. But it's fun.

Being a Canadian, I can safely say that the Varadero never made it to our shores. Next stop....England!!!

Welcome Tom,

You may also want to try this footpeg mod:

https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...otpeg+lowering

along with the bars, it truly transformed my bike making all day rides possible again.

footpeg mod

Thanks Doug,

I missed that mod when searching through the site. Definite "To do". It's on the list.

I'll have to add a search to eBay for those footpegs and start shopping.
