help with popping at throttle and on decel

So i just want to say first that this forum has been a big help. I've been using it for awhile looking for help and mods but this is my first time posting. I have a 04 superhawk that i got for my daily. It has 9600 miles. No aftermarket parts besides two bros slip ons. I did the pair block off. i did the tps mod. i have cleaned the carbs 3-4 times. Really good. New plugs, new choke cables. New gas. New air filter. bikemaster oem type. Bike would idle but popped every now and then. synced carbs and no. 2 was richer so adjusted it to no.1 and no more pop while idle. hold it at about 3k and it pops. crack on it and pops on decel. I thought maybe they never rejetted but took carbs apart and someone shimmed the needles and had 178 in the front and 45 for pilot. havent checked sizes in the rear yet. i dont think i have any air leaks but will spray around to find out. not sure where else to go. havent checked fuel air screw yet to see what they are set at but will. any ideas?

It'll do it more with pair removed. But make sure the carb manifold intake and exhaust sytstem is nice and tight - graphite seals between header and link pipes (if applicaple for your cans) and clamped securely.

Thanks. I would almost lean towards pilot jet being too small except its been rejetted. So only other think i could think of would be air leak somewhere. I'll check the boots and exhaust manifolds. Bike had been sitting awhile but carbs were really clean before i went thru them 3 or 4 times. Had frame off and powdercoated. This was the first i have seen the bike run.

Surprised no one has replied to this as it was pretty common.
First it will pop less with the PAIR removed, not more.

Second the "normal" fix to this condition is to turn the pilot screws out 1\2 turn.

Also, just because someone messed with the carbs doesn't mean it was set up correctly.

Thanks for the reply. I thought it would be less popping as well with pair removed. I noticed it had #45 pilots and alot of people say to run #48 pilots. might give them a try. air fuel screw was about 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 turns out. does turning it in give it more fuel like a bigger pilot or turning it out?

The pilots control fuel flow in this carb so out is rich , in is lean.

The old rule of thumb is 1 turn out or less go down one size of pilot, 3 turns or more out go up one size.

There is a thread with my opinions on how to set up the carbs on these bikes, Though it is just my opinion.

I did see someone saying what their best setup was with two bros slipons. Sorry I cant remember who it was. That was what made me try #48 pilots since mine had 45s. I figured i would come back and say what fixed my issue since alot of people like to start and thread then leave us hanging with the results. the #48 pilots and 2 3/4 out of the fuel screws took care of my issue. cleaned up the pop holding throttle and on decel. cant wait to ride. thanks everyone.
