I know ist a vaccume diaphragm.
I want to know weather its a small pump, or if it just opens when the bike is running to supply fuel. And closes when the bike is not drawing a vaccume, or running.

Thats the housing for the petcock diaphram. I replaced it on my Hawk just last fall. It is vacuum operated. It does open when the engine runs, and closes when the engine stops.
