Gauge HELP

hey guys this is probly a dumb question but here goes anyway. My tripometer resets every time I turn of the bike any ideas???? please help

One of the fuses are for the "backup power" check that... If not that, check the condition of the battery and charging circuit... R/R and the rest...

Charge the battery, this should remedy this problem.

Charge it or change it, whichever it needs. Mine did that. Changed the battery and the problem went away. Battery had several years on it.

i am probly going to sound stupid but is there a battery in the instrement cluster because my bikes bttery is new and the bike cranks fine any more ideas

No... There are no battery in the gauge...

Did you check the fuses?

Don't know if it's the cause here but one of the symptoms of a failing regulator/rectifier is that the trip meter resets at engine start up.

Yep... and it's also a cause of blown fuses if it's overcharging the battery and pumping out too high voltage... So I'd start with the simple answears... And then move on to the R/R...

thanks for all the help guys it was a blown fuse due to a small tear in the power wire but it is all good now. thx for everything.

Ok...

And since that blew the fuse I'd check the R/R and stator voltages to make damned sure that all else is within specs if it was my bike... but that's just a tip... electrical gremlins suck bigtime...
