Cbr954rr Gauge Swap

Just finished swapping in a set of 03 CBR954RR gauges. Most of the wires match up but some use different colors. The only other thing I had to do is use the 954 temp sending unit. Also spliced in the left hand switches from a 06 GSXR750. The bike now has four-way flashers and I wired my garage door opener the passing light switch so now I don't have to get off the bike to open the door. Let me know what you think.

Very cool!!!! Maybe a dumb question but how would one know that the tach is accurate? 4cyl/2cyl??? I know for instance auto meter tachs for cars have separate settings for 4, 6, and 8 cyl engines.

Whoa...this is a real interesting development in the world of what-fits-in-the-superhawk. How did you come around to this modification?

SNGPerformance is an unknown quantity at this point
Do tell! We need details. I'm going to use an RC51 cluster, so if anyone can help me out with a wiring diagram that would be great.

The bike is a 2000 superhawk. I checked the tack with the stock tach wired in at the same time and both read the same. I wired the FI warning light in for the side stand light. Anything is possable if you put your mind to it.

Well again that's a very cool swap and I predict you will be the first of many to do it. Congrats!

Can you tell me what additional displays you get with this cluster? Do you get self-cancelling with the GSXR switch? Wired the way you have it, does the side stand down still kill the bike? Sorry about all the questions but I think this is a really cool mod!

You get the digital speedometer, clock and dual trip meters in a much smaller package. Side stand kill switch still works. No self cancelling flashers with the gsxr switch, as I still used the stock honda flasher, mainly wanted it to wire in the garage door opener.

I'm horrible at the signal thing and always have been. I was in hopes that might have come with the package. The garage door thing is great. More and more security gates out there these days. My son has duel odo's on his CBR but I have to buy him gas to use them.

That's a great mod. I dig the garage door opener. Ingenuity at it's finest.

Any problems mounting? Did you just make an adapter plate?

I made an adaptor plate that mounts using the two bolts on the right side of the superhawk fairing stay and rubber mounts the gauges the same way they were mounted on the 954. I will post pics of it later.

Too bad it won't work on my 98 beacuse of the analog speedometer. That's ok because I'm partial to that over the digital ones anyway.

Not true! Mr. Billet's bike is a 2000 and it has analog gauges as well. He made it work, so it is definitely possible to do. Good job, once again!

Huh, I thought 2000 was when they switched to digital speedometers. Does the 954 speedometer work with the VTR's input? Is it correct?
