Fast flash LED turn signal

So I know that when I remove the stock turn signals on my bike and replace them with LEDs that my lights are going to flash fast due to the reduced load. Does anyone know what type of resistors I need to put in line so the flashers will operate normally.

You can also go to the auto parts store and find a flasher that doesn't have the burnout warning feature. The reason your flasher ticks so fast is that it has this feature and thinks the led is a burnt out bulb.

inderocker is an unknown quantity at this point
not to thread hi-jack but...

will those flashers fix the same problem i'm having with my intregrated rear turnsignals / brake lights. they only increase in speed when the brake is applied.

Re: Fast flash LED turn signal

The resistors would be about 20 ohms or so, but need to be at least 20 watts running from the hot lead of the light (+) to ground to simulate a lightbulb. Problem is that these resistors will get really hot so you need to mount them against metal if possible to transfer some of the heat from the resistor to the metal. Plastic will melt. Once the weather gets a bit warmer, I will be installing an electronic flasher and that will take care of the fast flash without using a load resistor. Only problem is the Honda flasher has the connectors in a linear line and the flasher I bought is in a triangular pattern so have to make up three leads with connectors on them and mount the new flasher.

If you can help it do not use resistors. . too much heat. I got the tip from CNI Dawg and I bought this:

Money well spent. it's time based rather than resistance based. You will have to check your lights once in a while to make sure one hasn't gone out, but that's the price we pay.

I think I am going to have to get that flasher with the different flash programs. That would be way to cool.

The instructions that came with my integrator said that they are supposed to flash fast when you apply the brakes.

Re: Fast flash LED turn signal

So here is what I got and I will have some pictures up as soon as I get finished with the install.

Front Turn Signals

Rear Turn Signals

Trick Flasher

I have already mounted the rear signals and tonight Iam going to finish with the front. The trick flasher should be at my house by Monday.
