Coil on cap redo

So after butchering my original plug boots, I have acquired more to retry.

It seems I am the only guy who has CBR 600 coils instead of the 1000s.

Here is a pic of what I have. I began grinding to make the thin lower part long enough to reach the plugs. Problem is I hit metal of some kind and don't want to kill these coils.

Has anyone used these coils & have pics of the mod?

Erik, if you look at the coils I have pictured, they are quite different from the ones you have pictured in your thread.

The base seems shorter and the whole coil shorter on mine. When mine are fully seated on the plug the very top of the coil is below the capped off air valve on the head of the motor.

In your pic your coil can clear it enough to have the coil at 90* to the rubber base.

8541, you adapted the stock boots to fit? I am finding the lower part that is to be ground down too short to reach the plugs if I leave enough rubber to be waterproof.

Did you grind the coil, cut the boot or both?

i just Cut my boot and stretched it over the coil but didn't but it over the widest section ill need some time as work is busy ill have a look tonight for you and take a photo.

i did have some issues getting the coil to reach but i just pushed up the rubber on the lower part of the coil and they went on with a lil bit of force.

I did a bit of both. I'll try to go out and get some pics but Though I haven't talked about it here, I have been fighting a couple of medical conditions the last couple of years and sometimes it takes a while to get stuff like this done anymore.

I do remember that I got the upper part of the boot to fit and then had to trim off some of the lower round bit to get engagement on the plug.

Been running them for about 3-4 yrs now with no issues.

Thanks man, sorry to hear about the health thing. Feel better.

I am hung up on this booth thing since my last heavy rain rides I could feel the misfires from the wetness.
