Is it the clutch? What's with turning right? HELP!
So I just bought a SH from a friend of mine and he said it had a few problems. The bike has 40,000 miles on it, but is in great condition minus these issues:
We think the clutch might be going bad. When starting out in first, the bike vibrates/rattles/chatters (whatever you want to call it) really hard. The noise seems to be coming from the tail of the bike due to its bouncing up and down. I read you can check for slippage by rolling on the throttle in 6th gear...I'm heading out to try that later.
Also, I know the SH is hard into 2nd...but unless I shift incredibly fast out of 1st and into 2nd, it won't go into 2nd at all. The lever just doesn't move. If I try long enough, it eventually goes in, but most time I have to let the clutch out and try again from 1st.
And just a side question...did anybody else have a problem with the high beam turning on when the handlebars are turned all the way to the right? It doesn't happen to the left.

in addition to my previous post
Oh, and I forget to mention...when in 1st gear and completely stopped, the bike likes to slowly roll forward even when I'm holding the clutch fully. That with the other problems give us reason to think the clutch is going bad.
Any feedback would help! Thanks.

kind of sounds like a transmion problem to me.
yeah but a clutch isnt expensive and after that many miles, what the heck.
Mine would pulsate through the lever when fanning it out on hard launch's so I put new in plates, while at it I put Barnett springs in there too, been good ever since.
Now on my ride yesterday, I buddy was out with us on an R1 and was complaining about shifting issues, vibration and all kinds of weird stuff... so we looked it over and found the chain was tight, really tight! So we backed it off some and the problems went away... I always keep my chain a little loose from what most people say but when I raced thats what everyone said to do, allows more room for the suspension to work unimpeded. I keep it adjusted to where it just will touch the guide on the bottom of the swingarm and not touch the mid pipe that came with the slip-ons.
