CCT questions.......
I'm sure you guys are sick of hearing questions about these things but I gotta ask. I have a '98 that has just turned 10k and I wonder if i should be concerned with the cct's. My whole engine was gone through in '03 do to an incident I had with the cam on my forward cylinder seizing up at around 1200 miles. The local honda shop had my bike for about a month while they fixed it. I was lucky and unlucky at the same time. Lucky in the fact that it happened the day after a weekend road trip of about 500 miles and that it was covered under warranty. Unlucky in that they managed to scratch the **** out of my wind screen and front fairing and they had my bike for about a month. I have no idea if they if they changed the cct's. Do you think that they would have? Is there any EASY way to tell if they have? Thanks for any help you can give me.

As Honda, nor any other manufacture has ever admitted fault with one of their ACCT designs (though they change them all the time) And shops do not get paid to replace parts that are not bad.. I'd have to guess, no, your ACCT's were not replaced, unless it was decided the were part of the issue being corrected.
This is one of those deals where, some will say they have 100,000 miles on a stock motor,,,faulty CCT's is a myth. Others will come along and tell stories of CCT's failing at low mileages. With some amount of years behind me for reference... I chose to replace my 6,000 mile old 1997 ACCT's with MCCT units from APE. Your mileage, decision, and experience may very.

Any shop that scratched the **** out of my fairing would be buying me a new one. And I would sue them in small claims court to make the point if necessary. Same for the screen. In view of such, I'm sure you got nothing extra and probably lucky the bike runs now.

They did buy me a new windscreen(zero gravity), but they were trying to say that it was that way when I brought it in. Then my wifes G-Ma backed into and knocked it over around a month after getting it back. So it has a nice scratch in the tank also. Luckily it fell over on some stacked buckets.

Yeah, they're pretty vulnerable when they're parked and fragile anyplace - parked or not. I try not to be one of those owners that drives and cares for the bike like it's made of glass. My Feb wreck made that a little more difficult for me. Having the bike tore apart for ten weeks over the winter for equipment improvements, drive 188 miles and loose it for another twelve weeks (mostly waiting for parts) - it's almost like starting all over with the bike when it was first new to me.

there is a colored dot on the CCT's - it'll tell if you if you have the old style or the newer ones.
i think their red or orange & blue.
i think ( twice in 1 day ) that the blue dot is the newer.
i also don't know when the updated ones came out. if they did change it, they probably just changed the front one ( warranty work - they'll only do the minimum imo )
