CCT Mod???????

Still need to do the R/R mod and CCT mode... Still kind of worried. SHe has always had that paint can rattle. Even when I bought her with 3500 miles on her... Can someone please explain.

it's almost always an abrubt increase in noise on decel. I thought I heard it once in a fast whaling session; but so far so good (2003 8K miles). if you are worried, then do it now

I've got a 98 Black/Red beauty, with a 2004 engine with only 6000km on it. (original engine broke down by CCT failure...) I've been searching all over the forum, but can't find the right answer for my worst nightmare... Are the 2004 original CCT's good enough to last forever? (modified versions from 2001+ ???) Otherwise I'll order some manual APE's yesterday.... and mount them the day before yesterday...

Stock CCTs are a maintenance item. APEs are about the same price and will last forever, though will weep oil over time. RTV on the threads will stop it once it starts.

I first backed out the locknut and tried replacing the o-ring. That worked for, oh...about 5 minutes! Then I backed out the locknut, cleaned the threads with brake cleaner and put a dab of RTV on the threads right up against the body of the CCT, then re-tightened the locknut. Works like a champ and no leaky.

Well, if we're throwing out options: Locktite, it's seals and keeps the cct in place.
