CBR gauge swap-who did it?

So yeah, I must suck at searching because I am sure I have seen this done but cant find it. I am going to attempt CBR600RR guages. I want everything to work but what needs doing?

If anyone can show me where to start reading on it I would appreciate it.

Step one, get the service manual for the bike, and check the temp sensor... If it's not a matching resistance, you need to swap that out, then check the size and thread if that will be possible... Step two, get the gauges and harness/plug, without the plug, the gauges are completely useless, since no manual states where each lead goes in the plug...

Side note, the 600's aren't the best donor's since they tend to have a redline far above the VTR, so any shiftlight or similar will likely be completely unuasable... The CBR1000RR 04-07 is the best donor, since the rev range is "reasonable" and the shiftlight is configurable low enough to be the new redline marker, albeit not a shiftlight... 954/929 gauges are also a good choice... I have schematics for all, so wiring will be easy...

I dont mind about the tach but how does the speed pickup work? Also, I guess I would need to find if the temp sensor fits out bike.

Where are the write ups on here?

The tach and speedo operate of the stock signals... It's all compatible as long as you figure out the right wiring... The tach works well as is, but you will only be using a small portion of it...

One is here... The other's are harder to find apparently, I cant find them with search right now... https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...-gauges-26467/

But, I'll gladly provide wiring help...

Thanks brother. I have no problem with the wires after spending many hours digging in there and writing down EVERYTHING.

But dont worry tweety, I will be hitting you up again when I get stumped.

OK so I got the gauges and am waiting for my fleabay plug that will give me the wiring I need.

My only confusion is what temp sensor do I need? On the ronayers fiche it has 'sensor',,'thermo unit' and sending unit. To change to the new gen signal which part do I swap out? Ronayers.com Microfiche Honda>Motorcycle>2003>VTR1000F>WATER PIPE

You want #5to on that diagram... i think you want the one labeled sending unit... if you call a local stealership and ask for the part number for a temp sender for after 2001 you should get the right one...
