Bike bogs down approaching top speed

Hello, I have a 2004 vtr1000, this is my first post. Before you take a hack at me, I was approaching top speed legally Around 220 sometimes even at 200 it will stop accelerating and the throttle does not work anymore. I have aftermarket screaming demon exhausts no baffles with stock air filter & no rejet. even with baffles it does this. Anyone know what might be the problem?

I wish that was the answer but my bike never left canada and i've been at 240kmh with stock mufflers when i first got it. so maybe it's a carburetor issue?

Take a look at this thread on vtr1000.org
www.vtr1000.org ? View topic - Won't rev above 7k, carbs or coils?
Symptoms similar/same. How it would have happened, with the info supplied, I won't speculate.

The bike has had the same air filter for a year but I removed it and cleaned it. The exhaust leaks cause I couldn't find proper size gaskets for the slip ons. I wouldn't know how to check for a leak in the intake though...

Get the graphite seals and decent clamps for the header / link pipes part no. 6 18392-MG7-750

http://www.bike-parts-honda.com/piec...IRE+STORM.html

and test that the carb intake rubbers have the carbs clamped nice and tight by spraying some WD-40 at 'em. Replace if necessary.

When that's done and if the problem persists take it to someone with a dyno and experience of jetting VTRs.
