ARGH! The Grease!
ARGH! The Grease!
What do you use to clean the grease that accumulates on the rear wheel, chain guard, kick stand, etc? I've tried a couple kinds of degreaser and they barely touch it. I'm tired of it. There has to be another (better) way.
Good old fashioned kerosene and an old toothbrush work for me.
After that polish the rim to put a coating of polish on it that makes it easier to clean off the next time.
With the other parts use kerosene and a brush , wipe off with a rag and spray with wd40 etc .
consistency is the key here, let it build up and it becomes a major chore, do it regularly and it's a snack !

Thanks all for the suggestions. I *have* WD, so I guess I have a date w/a toothbrush tonight. If that doesn't work, I'll step up to some other options.
WD40 is machine oil, kerosene and perfume...
Skip its cost and just put kerosene in a spray bottle. For thick muck use a plastic scraper judiciously. Simple Green can burn paint too.
Waxing after is a good answer but WD40 and kerosene do not need to be washed off, in fact they impart some non-stick.

No, or according to one group with a gas chromatography (GC) and mass spectroscopy (MS)
this group says otherwise.
