Anyone added a second fan?

I have an 05 Superhawk that I just bought with 0 miles about 2 weeks ago. It runs warm, which I read is somewhat normal. I was inquiring about adding a fan to the second radiator. has anyone done this? Also what about lower temp sending units to turnt he fans on at 180 or so?

Thank you in advance for the help, and you have an awesome forum going

I started down this road but the issue is getting something that will screw into the threaded hole in the radiator which I am guessing is a metric thread and the automotive ones are probably standard. They do have the adjustable ones with a sensor bulb that I have seen guys sneak under the radiator hose in cars and they didn't seem to leak so you may be able to go that route or attach it to the exterior of the rad or in the fins. For now I just ran a wire that provides a ground to the stock sensor wire through a switch mounted under the brake master cyl so I can turn it on manually if its starts to heat up and it will still work normally if you don't touch the switch.

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing.
I just hate it when the fan comes on in stop and go traffic.
The damn thing blows hot air right at me. Feels like I'm hugging a furnace.

Yeah, but you lost all your undeseat storage! ha! Also serves as a rear tire warmer!

Underseat storage

Hey Hawkrider, do you have room for two fans under your seat ?
I do.
I also don't get poached by heat coming off the front mounted radiators.

use engine ice instead of 50/50 antifreeze in your bike. engine ice makes everything run a lot cooler.

Up here in NY I use the radiators as hand warmers!

Handwarmers

I use Acerbis UNIKO Hand Guards with heated grips......which I can turn off.
In all seriousness, I've been running the underseat radiators for over three years with no problem. I don't get heat soaked from the front mounted radiators and cannot feel any heat coming from the underseat set up. The second fan rarely sees any use even though the primary fan does cycle constantly. ( I'm still looking for the natural airflow solution )
Other than the loss of underseat storage it's been a very successfull mod for me.
