Spammers
Hey guys, sorry about all the recent spammer activity here. I'm not really sure what happened but I've spent a LOT of time deleting new "members" from the forum and blocking IP addresses. I probably deleted over 400 fake users. I am now moderating ALL new users to the forum and will be starting a new thread for this purpose.
Thanks for dealing with it for a few days.

I suggest a couple of things to fellow forum members pending a moderator deleting a spam thread:
1) Do not post a response to the spam thread.
2) Bump a few prior threads to get the spam thread off the front page.

If one comes up, report the post (there's a link on the page somewhere). It usually doesn't take me very long to take care of it, or one of the other moderators can do it too. They get the same email I do when the post is reported.

Thanks Greg. But I have to admit that I posted a sarcastic reply with the SPAM smilie to one of them. I did not, however, bite on any of the links they listed. Thankfully I'm not that dumb.
Does a post reply compromise a member?

No but it makes others more likely to click on the thread and click on something in it they shouldn't. It also puts it to the top, makes it more obvious to everyone that their beloved forum is being overrun by spam where they otherwise might never notice.
