Looking for ways to stay warm. Usually wear a First Gear one piece thermal suit, baclava, double layer gloves and socks. The suit is lightweight and does a pretty decent job, great for the money. Low on style points though.

Probably don't want to electrify as I'd forget to unplug and rip the wiring off the bike.

Any suggestions? TIA!

I usu. sport some cold weather nike thermals or underarmour and usually the leather blocks the cold air and traps some of my body heat. Just my 2c

Well Jerry, do you want to eat pastries or do you want your head to stay warm with a good balaclava ?

A good heated vest is the surest way to go. I know you're afraid to rip to connection off if you forget, but, these are made pretty tough. I know, been their done that !
This has been covered in the past. Make a little search, you'll see a lot of folks have different ideas about warmth, and all are pretty good. It just depends on how good your body is at staying warm.

 

I was doing it wrong......baclava goes in the belly not in the helmet, no wonder.

The tank bag I use is sweet but there just ain't no tucking in like there used to be. Yes will search. Joe gets all wired in, he's the master of cold weather riding. Have read about his set up.

Oh yeah I wear a Joe Rocket Bull Dog for instance in the summer. Great find on Craigs! I need to spend time on there

 

Here where I am in Oz the winters are mild with no snow.

I like to ride at night and the temp is usually around 7 degrees c so I wear track suit pants with thermals over the to then my leather pants.

On top I were a merino wool ski by, the thermal, then leather jacket.

A neck warmer or scarf and a balaclava and a pair of thin soulmate leather gloves and a helmet of course!

A pair of long touring boots and I am set to go.

Keeps me warm as toast but a bloody rigmarole to put on and take off.

Nothing worse than being cold on the bike eh!!!

 

I have a Gerbings heated jacket, don't use it much, but I will in a few weeks while riding to Vt. Via back roads of course! That and heated grips work wonders. And I use ski pants over jeans, easy on & easy off with Velcro & zippers down the legs.

Wear wicking double skins. Cuddleduds work best for some reason and I have tried many. Taramar fleece lined are close but will roast you when you come indoors.

Touring type jacket with zip out liner. I wear a Fieldsheer hydro tour. It kept me fine donwn to -9F last year. Insulated boots (dont skip that one).

I made this fleece lined spoiler to seal off my neck.(cant do without it)

A touring windshield keeps the air off me & is worth having.

I broke down and got electric gloves (10x better than grips). Your fingers spend a lot of time on the levers so grips are less useful. I only use these in sub 24*F weather.

You can put surgical latex tubing on your levers as ice cold aluminum is a natural heat sink to suck warmth from fingertips.

Fog city face shield guard means never a fogged visor, huge safety issue.

Good gloves can save your life as frozen fingers mean poor bike control.

For a base layer I have been using this Men's BASE LAYER WINDSTOPPER® Turtleneck | GORE BIKE WEAR®
It is far and away the best I have used. Very versatile. I use the shirt under my summer perf leather jacket to extend the seasonal use. Under insulating layers with my winter jacket it is amazing how well it traps heat and blocks wind losses. Combined with a good pastry under the helmet I'm all set for the relatively mild temps here.

 

When the temps drop around here to January weather I usually zip my liner in my open mesh jacket and close the top vents in my helmet .

Keep in mind during the summer in PHX if you travel at more than 20mph on a motorcycle you will burst into flames.
