Anybody block off air vents/rads/oil cooler for cold weather riding?

Seems like the nostrils for air to rad/bodywork would be plenty safe to block, but was thinking the oil cooler would be easy to stick a piece of cardboard over for the dark early morning rides in the winter?
Mostly slabbing about 47 miles one way, remove for the warmer afternoon temps?
Bike is running 167 water temps before any blockage, would monitor and make sure it doesn't get up past 190 or so.

The T-stat will just remained closed till operating temperatures. No need to block anything off. The only time I think you'd need to do that is winter in Alaska, and if it's that cold...your 'hawk shouldn't be ridden!!

having to do training in chattanooga at 8AM, thus i'm riding in the cold. (and yes i've done a couple of searches.) was kind of chilled with two layers on last week, now a cold front has come through. i can feel the motor roasting me in 97 degree rides, so i figured i could get some heat when it's 37 in the morning or so. just wanted to see if anyone had a dire warning or good results.

Your worried about the cold in TN!

I live in MN and have rode the hawk in temps down to the 20's. No problems, with her. I just let her warm up a bit longer.
