simple help please

I've been going in circles about what to do. I want the 520 conversion kit, 15 front 43 back. my prob is that I do love to wheelie and all that fun stuff but I also take good 45+ min trips too on the freeway/ highway cruisng 65-80 mph. how bad is this going to change my bike. should I shouldnt? or any suggestions to get both worlds? all input please. If I did buy the 520 kit, does any one know of cheap front and rear stock teeth sprockets for sale maybe to use just for my long trips?

having had at 16/41 16/43 15/43 and 15/45. I would say for street use the 15/43 will put you in a good place as far as cursing and more spirted riding goes

Ditto. I also tried 16/41 (stock), 16/43, 15/41 and 15/42, am now on 15/43. I will admit that at first you may find it revvy, especially if coming off stock gearing but I like to sport-tour with mine and found 15/43 to be acceptable.

3rd - Really makes it come alive in the hill country's winding backroads. 15/43 way to go. Only regret is I didn't wait on the killer black teflon coated rear sprocket and installed the shiny aluminum one instead. I'm a lean 245 lbs and find my wheelies quite manageable...

k

so 15 43 isnt to high rev for the cruising trips? thats the hint Im starting to get. Ya I looked at the black rear sprocket but I have been waiting 6 months to ride my bike and time is precious where Im at. how far will this throw off my speedo. for example if the speedo says 70mph what speeds am I really doing?

I'm told that in final gear the 15/43 (rear tire size exceptions) setup yields 15 mph per 1k rpm. So at 4k your doing 60 mph when the speedo reads 70. I have not verified but feels right with traffic. You give up a little in the top but I felt it was a fair trade. I mean, what's the point of driving to a destination if you can't really open it up once you get there. Any way, that's my take.

I run stock up front and 43 rear, and speedo it off bike reads 70, gps says 63....so not terrible...FYI on the highway, I am always looking for 7th gear...lol..but that's just me...

I have used 15/43 and found it revved to high on the highway for my liking. I now have 16/43 and find it excellent.

Have a look in the Knowledge Base for the gearing spreadsheet I put in there. You can try the different options, and see the results on revs and speeds in each gear.

That's what I use and I find it perfect for all around riding, wheelies included.

Another 16/43 here... 15/43 gave a tad to high revs for my liking on the longer trips...

If you ever locate thet 7'th one lemme know... I haven't found one on mine... Not for lack of trying thoo... (I'm actually trying to convince myself that I don't really need a gear indicator... not to succesfully I migth add...)
