Picking up 98 900rr front end this weekend

Howdy,

I"ve got the bike on stands starting the mcct swap, and an ignition advancer for fun. while it's out of commission I decided to do the fork swap too!

So I found a full 98 900rr front end w/wheel, rotors without clipons locally here in Santa Cruz. I've scoured this site and others about the compatibility of the 98 forks vs the 93-95 900rr forks. these 98 forks don't have the extended stanction tubes, but I figured I'd set up the triple tree so the top of the legs are flush with the top and install some 45mm heli bars. Does this geometry sound correct?

Also, is there a way to determine by looking or measuring the 900rr forks so I can make sure these are for sure 98's, the seller is almost 100% positive but isn't sure. Thanks for any input.

Input greatly appreciated!

-Jeromy

Be really careful, the 900RR forks are pretty short. You should make sure to check all clearances. I normally do this by taking the fork caps off and removing the springs. This will allow the forks to completely bottom. You can then check your settings to see that the wheel doesn't hit anything.

If you did get the 16" wheel get yourself a cbr f3 wheel, a 900rr rear wheel is direct swap as well.
