Just fitted 954 calipers, AMAZING !!!

I've just fitted 954 calipers with honda genuine pads.
Bought used ones with pads for 80 bucks.

I've tested with the stock VTR master cylinder and SS lines.

What a amazing upgrade !!!
2 fingers huge braking power, less travel on the lever and much more agressive attack !

Looks like the calipers works better.
The pads are larger that can help for more power.
The pistons calipers seems to retract less after braking (seals ?) so the pads are closer to the rotors causing less travel at the MC level to start braking.

For me it's definetely a great solution !
EBC HH Pads, SS lines are much more expensive compared to the result.

Just had to do a few number of stops to be aware of the difference and now let's ride and enjoy my new brakes !

Cool, I have thought about doing that one as well,

Will the ss lines work with those or do you have to use the lines that come with calipers...

what year or years of 954 match?

Thanks for the input...

I've used the SS lines that were installed with my VTR stock calipers. No problem to connect them.
There are 2004 954 calipers. Any 954 calipers should be fitted.

I've to grind some material of the calipers to fit them on the VTR forks as it has already been said in this forum.
Takes me about 10 minutes for each caliper with a dremel tool.

cool, I think I could do that...

so your using the stock pads for the 954 cal? not EBC....

I just put EBC pads on like 400 miles ago...still not happy with the calipers, as they suck...

That's awesome. That's one of the big benefits I'm looking forward to when I finish my RC51 front end swap. I love my superhawk, but have never been thrilled with the brakes...jumping off it and getting on the ZX12 I used to have was like night and day, not only the power but the brakes-the stock brakes on that bike were amazing. When I sold it I put new EBC HH pads on it and man, you just breathed on the lever and it was like dropping an anchor.

Honda stopped making the 954 in 2003. 2004 introduced the CBR1000RR. Not a big deal. You are forgiven.

supertwinSH is an unknown quantity at this point
Just got some 954 calipers for $40 on ebay (off an 2002 bike)! Can't wait for them to get here. Now I am on the hunt for some braided lines. It will be so nice to have powerfull brakes....like my old TL 1000 S! I think I may even go with some HH pads too.
