Feeler: Group buy of HRC-replica ECUs?
#31
Another thing to think about is what exactly 0% is on the TPS. If I am thinking correctly, for many of us it is 500 ohms. But some not. And I have no idea what 100% is. Would be easy to find out though.
Good news is that I have been studying their web site a little and it sounds like this can all be adjusted to whatever you like.

Another very interesting idea I picked up off their web site..... would we be able to get a shift light to work off of the new box? This is appealing to me because my bike now only sees the track.

Good news from Ignitech!
I just heard back from Jan at Ignitech and he said that he can retrieve the ignition curve from the HRC unit. I wrote back and asked him to get back to me regarding the cost and turnaround time.
Will keep you posted.

Well with a stg1 engine it really works well but there is still a noticeable difference when installed on a stock engine. At least on mine you could "feel" the difference between the two unis.

Update: HRC box should (hopefully/likely) be on its way to Ignitech shortly for de-coding.
This means that the HRC map should be available relatively shortly for anyone wanting to buy a programmable box and load it in. As for me, I placed an order for a programmable box last week and so should be ready to go as soon as the HRC map becomes available.
As for the question about the shift light, I was told by Jan that the (slightly more expensive) TCIP4 unit allows you to run a quick shift, pilot light,.... For dedicated track duty, this would likely be the better choice. As for me, I took the basic model as I have no need for these features (not at this time anyhow).
cheers

The price is on the Ignitech site. Here is the info I was given:
"TCIP4 (has more features usefull for racing - quick shift, pilot light etc...). THis unit requires an adapter cable to original connector. It is a bit more expensive than the basic unit.
Prices without VAT
SPARKER TCIP4 (standard) 110 eur
Adapter cable for TCIP4 16.67 eur
Freitage DHL 40 eur"
So there you have it.......
AS far as getting the ball rolling, getting extra participants can bring the cost down slightly for you, that's it. The HCR map will be available soon (or should be anyhow) so the number of people participating in that regard is meaningless....

Hi All, im about to order a ignitech sparker programable race ignition for my vtr dragrace only bike, i was going to strip all wiring and make a fresh race only loom but would like to try with standard wiring first does anyone know if the converter unit fitted on these bike would cause a problem or for that matter what it does .

To anyone considering getting an Ignitech ECU, DO NOT order the basic model as it only allows adjustment based on RPM. In order to be able to use the TPS, you need to get the TCIP4......

And any luck on the HRC curve yet?

I have decided to finally jump on this. Just waiting to hear back some sort of payment confirmation. After much research, my goals have shifted away from the HRC map to other neat features that Ignitech has to offer. Primarily a shift light and the ability to incoorporate a quick-shifting system. I can still tinker with the advance a little if I choose. Although an exact HRC map, should it become available, would still be very cool.
I'm gonna attempt to get the quick shifter to work by using the rear brake light switch as a sensor. If that doesn't work I will try some other sort of cheap switch. Only if all else fails can I justify spending what they want for a switch specifically designed for this purpose. It may be a few months, but I will report my finings.

all in all, I too tried to track down an HRC Ignition Module when I got this second VTR, I went through Big Valley Honda with no luck but I did get the late Bob Hyashida's phone # and gave him a call, he said he didn't have and didn't know where to get one, then a couple of day's later he called me back and asked if I really wanted one, well hell yes, Bob actually had one, an authentic HRC Module and I asked him about the identification markings on the unit and they were complete, Bob sold me the unit for $400 which works perfectly with my ported heads and hi-comp engine.
Any body want to buy a really goood, 130 HP RC51 street bike, with lots of top-shelf suspension goodies, full Akrapovic exhaust system and other fancy bits? I'll be posting it up soon. I prefer local pickup, or northern Cal delivery option. It will be priced to sell and make somebody really happy...

Nice to look that someone follow the way of the Ignitech TCIP4...
It's a great ECU, easy to use and whit a lot of function... Jan whit me was very disponible, and I think he can extract the HRC data whitout problem...
It's easy tuning the ECU on a Dyno, and you can view the difference of a single change into the map in real time...
I want to stay tuned on this post... ... HRC maps are very interesting each for me!

Basically, the data needed to replicate the stock ECU with the ones linked here is widely available... The same to closely replicate the HRC parts are also floating around... But I think the group-buy as such is dead in the water...
Just purchase a ECU, and give it a basic map, either of the options, and tune it to your specific bike and you will have more options than a HRC one...
