Two Brothers Hi mounts. Better get them soon as aftermarket parts for the Superhawk are starting to be discontinued. Two Brothers told me they only had 2 sets of Hi mounts left.

I just got the Leo Vince's a short while ago. They are the best pipes I have seen in design, durability and sound. They come with a removable baffle as well and the mounting hardware is quality lightweight aluminum. They look sick too!

Superhawk Pipes

So has anyone heard of an actual comparison of all these different pipes on a dyno. I'm looking mostly for horsepower gain. I would think that they should all sound pretty good hooked up to the V twin.

Joyner,

Welcome to the forum! You're not going to get much hp gain from the VTR, 5 or 10 without internal mods, correctly jetted. Differences between different brands will not be felt even by a finely calibrated butt dyno. It's pretty much up to you then on weight, sound, build quality, material (SS, Al, Ti, CF), and either high or low mount....oh, and how much you want to spend.

Talking

Thanks a lot for the info Hawkrider. Oh, you won't be hearing much from the "new guy, fresh meat". I live in Sunny San Diego where we have year round riding; unlike some keyboard jockeys we have already heard from....

Well, if I'm the keyboard jockey you're refering to, I've got pretty much year round riding here as well and utilize said riding time just nicely thank you. Some of us have been on this site for sometime now and like to share our knowledge to some of the newbs and lovers of the SH. My Superhawk is FAR from stock and have owned it for about 6 years now and who knows, some day you might want some advice from some of these keyboard jockies.:-D and that's all I've got to say 'bout that. j/k

Ok Superhawk,

I'll bite.... Since you have done all the homework already I'd like to ask you:

1) Of all the mods you've done, which gave you the most bang for the buck?

2) If you could do it all over again, what would you change?

3) Which exhaust system would you reccomend?

4) Have you made any changes to your front suspension? (mine seems to be totally sacked out, it's a 2003)

Thanks for the input....

1) Mods are a very personal thing, it depends on what you want the bike to dou for YOU. But since you asked, for my taste,(more sport and track)the best ones were a tie between ss brake lines with gsxr 1000 calipers and my front end conversion with larger rotors as well,(more on this in your last Q). Oh and an aftermarket seat,(which I just sold and completely regret).

2) Just to make it easier I would've used an RC51 front end and I wouldn't have sold my Corbin.

3)Again that depends on what you're are using it for and the results you want and the answer varies with every rider, (kind of like asking what oil do you use). Exhaust can get very expensive when all is said and done and usually only result in minor hp gains. I went for a weight reduction more than power and price was a big part in my choice. I went with 2bros cf because I got them CHEAP and they're extremely light. I beleive on the Dyno Erion had the best power results and i really like the Leo's. I recommend that the buyer gets whatever makes them happy, some like low some high. Some like 'em louder then others and anything will be an improvement over the stock cans that weigh about 40 lbs.

4) I made changes in my front and rear suspension which this bike REALLY responds well to. The stock supension is set up for a rider that weighs about 120 lbs, I don't know about you but I'm nowhere near that. Some people go the race-tech springs and valve route which I hear is a major improvement over stock. I chose to do things a little differently and put '01 GSXR 1000 forks and calipers, 929/954 triples and an RC51 wheel and rotors with 929 bearings and spacers. The triples and USD forks are MUCH stiffer than the stuff on the SH and give it much better handling and feel IMO. After doing this I could really feel how bad the shock felt so I put a Bitubo race shock on the back and it feels like a completely different bike.

Most if not all of the mods I've done were to make the bike a better track bike and there are tons of things you can do to make it a better sport tourer. The only thing I haven't done is internal engine mods because I wanted it to handle and stop better before worrying about power. I'm not trying to say that I'm the all knowing one but you might want to keep an open mind and use the knowledge that's available from all the people on this board. Some of us have owned these bikes a long time and have done a lot of work on them and we don't mind sharing our knowledge with those in need. If you ever have any specific Q's just ask eventually you'll get an answer. Here's a couple of pics if you're interested,(sorry it's dirty Ilive on a dirt road).

Hey! I am new to this site as I just purchased a super clean '02 Superhawk. It is sweet! I posted something similar on another thread but...I am curious as to what kind of mileage you guys are getting with aftermarket exhaust? My ride came with Two Bros. low mounts. It sounds great but I am only getting about 31 MPG. It was suggested to me to sell it and get a carbon Jardine system. Any thoughts and comments?

Thanks!

Yoshi

My Hawk has the Yoshi slip on and they are low mount. I love the sound, it is a deep grumble and gives good power. No problem with engine, in fact am currently selling bike. Check classifieds. Otherwise, the Devil's sound pingy, although on my yosh I get a little backfire that I think adds to the sound. It is kinda cool, not like a vw backfire but a popping sound while the engine winds downl. Good luck finding that perfect exhaust, I guess with all these opinions you are back at square one but yes, some are more expensive but still have the same results.
