chain and sprockets on the way
chain and sprockets on the way
Since gong down a tooth in the front is easy to do i decided to go with a 46 rear and a 16 tooth and convert to a 520 chain. I got a pretty much race ready cahin so it won't wear out on me. The gearing will be just like 1 down 2 up except that i will have a 15 tooth for those times when i really want to wheelie.
Everyone says don't do the 520 on a 1000, but i made the back so big that there will be about 5 more teeth in contact with the chain, meaning the cahin will have more power dispersed over a greater distance. so it should be fine.
I feel like going down 1 in the front will make the chains rate of change in direction to fast to not wear it out faster.
What do you guys think was that a good idea.

Re: chain and sprockets on the way
I may have gone a little over board. but my friends with "track bikes" R6 CBR RR and 954 have around 50's on stock sprockets. Even Katanas have around 50. So I am going from 16/41 stock to a 15/54 520 RK Vortex. It should have been already installed! but they had to speacial order it because they didnt have a 54 rear in stock
I will tell yea all about it next week!
Re: chain and sprockets on the way
that will be a little much for everday riding cause that is like having a 54 rear with a 16 front, it will be at like 7k on the interstate, but it will wheelie in 3rd easy.
