Not sure what you mean?? Top speed on a SH is about 145 by way of HP, even though the stock gearing would go faster if the HP was there.

The lower gear ratio of 2.87 (higher numerically) does "lower" top speed in theory, but as even a mildly tuned SH can not Hit the limiter with stock gears.. who cares??? What a Theory in top speed might be...LOL
With the lower gears, yes you can run out of RPM,, and that does limit your top speed.. but,, as a road bike,, the quickness you add by lower gears is much more useable and fun, then TOP speed. In any case,, I can hit the same top speed with either set of gears,, One by way of the limiter, one by way of Horsepower.

hmmm..got close but chickened out. Just don't like the idea of riding at 150 on the redline *cringe*

well my only concern is that with -1 +2 is that when I do pistons/cams (hopefully this winter) that it's going to be too much. I think just +2 in the rear is going to be fine

146 indicated, and still lots of room on the tach. No place near the limiter. Stock, with jetting, open exhaust, K&N filter runs out of HP before redline on flat surface, 1200 ft elev.

To each his own... Most would rather have quicker acceleration 99% of the riding experience and forgo 5MPH of top end the 1% of time spent riding at top speed. But some are speed junkies,, and care not about much, except how fast they can go.... Nothing wrong with that
While I do not envy drag racers, I do appreciate there need for speed. And understand what drives them to go faster.

As your adding HP mods, I understand your desire to not lower the ratio all that much…. I’d still do it, as with more HP and lower gears, I think my bike would be a blast to ride in the street environment I ride in.

my superhawk is going to end up being a weekend warrior for street and track. No more long hauls. I'm not sure what the final difference in top speed will be but I'd like to avoid topping her out real quick on a track. (I know someone in texas said they kept topping theirs out on 1 straightaway)

Just ask sumofallparts.com to change the the sprocket.
They'd probably do it.
