APE - CCT's

Tim, the Bike Doctor, just completed replacing my front and rear CCT's and my Hawk is now running smooth as silk. Looks like PO before me decided to do their own manual adjustment, and royally screwed up the job. I noticed just in time, and saved myself a lot more pain and dollars. Diagnosed the problem via the forum, and Tim confirmed. Also found an issue with the exhaust, missing collar pin, and gave me my full rumble back. Ride on...

What did the P.O. do? Something very dumb, like set them "by ear" and they just happened to be too loose?

Original PO actually did something more interesting CruxGNZ. Modified his own tensioner, which came loose and gave me a consistent rattle out of no where. The modified screw was hitting the chain! Shut her down as soon as I heard it, and called my buddy Tim for help. Fellow Hawkers, be sure to read the threads on this forum, and seek help with this mod, if you have never completed a CCT change.

Thanks for the support RobertLever. Glad you are hanging in there. We're still riding hard down here in Florida....

Holy crap! Yeah, that could've been very bad! Glad you shut it down when you did.

I just replaced mine too but with Kriegers. I guess that is an upside of manual cct. When it gets loose, you'll hear it and have time to fix it.

Sorry James, didn't take the before picture! My friend Tim handled, so I put it in his hands. Unfortunately, didn't have time to work on them on my own. I did have to adjust slightly the other day after a long ride to Miami. Everything is still running smoothly after the install.
