Did you see the thread with the CBR gauge swap?

Oh, what's this Search feature do?

https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ght=gauge+swap

I believe that's the closest anyone has come to swapping for a digi-unit, short of buying an '03+.

I still don't have an answer over there as to whether the analog speedometer input would work with the digital speedometer.

Jamie,

Mr. Billet and I said it worked in the other thread! The input is not analog for any of our bikes 98-05, it's a pulse generator. And yes, I checked, the part numbers are the same for the sensor (37700-MBB-000) for all years. The speedometer cluster just changes the signal to either analog needle or digital readout based on what cluster we have.

From what I can remember when I looked at this, there is some serious wiring to do as the plugs are totally different in the instrument cluster.

Too much work I thought, so I didn't do it. Check it out before you buy any gauges.

Personally from having a bike with Digital and one with Analog Analog is alot better, first off it doesnt jump in 5-7 mph increments on hard acceleration and when I pass the cop thing they always leave out on main street to warn you of your speed my hawk is more accurate could just be a couinsidence but thats just me.

Yeah, I am happy with mine since I painted them all black instead of having two white and one black. A fuel gauge would be nice though.

If your referring to the late models digital unit, I think the easiest route would be to also get a matching digital wiring harness (used). If all the sensors are the same (check the numbers) between the bikes as Greg seems to indicate, then it's just a bolt on affair.

Yeah, I agree. The harness is way different, and this might be easier than custom wiring. If yu do this the ECU and a couple of other bits will be in a different spot from memory.

Ah, I only said the speed sensor was the same. The other ones to worry about are the coolant temperature and the fuel level sensor. To the best of my knowledge they are different. Swapping wiring harnesses is BIG work. You're pretty much talking about stripping the bike to the frame for this.

It is for these reasons that I don't have a digital speedo!!! Too hard I reckon. The more I thought about the swap, the more I liked my analogue dash!
