rear hugger rubbing tire

i was finaly able to get a rear hugger on ebay from piteck and put it on this mourning and the tire is rubbing at the the top rear most point on the hugger. if i squeez in the sides a little the tire clears but i cant figure out how to make the hugger stay in that shape. its made of fiberglass. does anyone have this hugger and/or problem and have any advise.

I had the same problem. I bent the aluminum bracket on the right side of the rear swing arm in toward the wheel slightly and it barely cleared. This is assuming we have the same hugger.

Hugger Clearance

Please remember that a tire "grows" at speed and with heat.
You will need at least a 1/4" of clearance to ensure non contact, and that may not be enough.
Also, if you are running a smaller front sprocket your wheel will be further back than with the stock gearing, unless you changed the chain at the same time and made it shorter to retain the stock wheel base. If you go up on the rear it'll pull your wheel forward which may give you the clearance you need.
On my carbon hugger ( brand unknown ) I had to bent the left side tab to make it symetrical on the swingarm. If yours is already symetrical, bend both sides, or as a last resort slot the holes to bring it up in the rear.
Have you contacted the seller about the fit issues ?

Good luck.

Step one: remove hugger
Step two: perform 5 min. burnout
Step three: install hugger

Buy some washers and longer screws. Thats what I did with my pyramid hugger. I also had some shitty dunlop d207's on. Thank god I got rid of those piles of crap.

What size tire? 180/55? I had something similar on my 1000RR but I was using the stock hugger with a 190/60 rear race tire. I shimmed with washers to get about 1/2" of clearance and the fuggin tire grew enough on the short 3/8 mile straight that it burned a 2"x4" hole right through it. It was a good excuse to get some carbon fiber for the bike, but nonetheless I could've done without that situation.

this is the hugger i got
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...spagenameZWDVW

im running a 180/55 maxxis supermaxx tire and i know about the expansion at freeway speeds. i have not contacted the seller because i had to drill out the mounting holes just to try to mount it so doubt he would take it back. i tryed moving the tire front to rear and it fit tighter when its closer to the engine. the top of the hugger near the "W" shape needs to go up 1/8" to be flush with the tire and up another 1/4" for clearance. if i squeez near the rear uprights a little the part that rubs clears the tire by 1/4". ill mess with the tab on the swing are and see what happens.

i made a tab out of sheetmetal that puts the left rear mounting hole 3/4" higher and now i have almost 1/2" clearance on the left side of the tire and 1/4" on the right. there is a extra hole on the hugger on the right between the brake line holddown and the caliper so i might push that closer to the wheel and put a self tapper in there and that might even out the gap.

thanks for everyones input .
