Paint refinishing

Hey Guys,
friend of mine painted my bike and the finish was a little abrasive so he buffed it. Now the paint is smooth, but there are swirl marks in it.I have tried various products to get them out, including 3m Finesse, but to no avail.
Don't have much body work experience,so my question is whats the best way to get a nice finish? Thanks in advance for any suggestions....

Wet sand and then use rubbing compound. Finish up with a fine polish/swirl remover. Did the painter clear it?

A lot depends on what kind of clear coat he used.
I used Omni clear urethane. If theres scratches or stuff like that I break out 2000 grit sand paper. Then polish it shiny with mcguire's (sp) mirror glaze junk.

if he used a clear coat it will most likely need to be buffed again... i do body work for a living and when we buff a customers car we first wet sand with 1500 grit then use 3,000 grit on a DA sander, buff it with a coarse rubbing compound followed by polishing it with with a finer polishing compound both on a buffer

heres what we use
http://www.farecla.com/automotive-products.html
we use the G3 as the rough cut and the G10 as the finishing polish

this stuff is nice because unlike the 3M stuff, this is used with water to keep the paint cool and gives you way less of a chance to burn through

after polishing it with the machine it's nice to hand polish it with somithing like thishttp://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/racglazpolse.html

make sure its a polish or a sealer, DO NOT USE A WAX for at least 1 month after having it painted, the paint is not cured yet.

hopefully this helped
