Emgo FZ1 Mirror Install
Hey CNIDawg,
I ordered a pr of emgo FZ1 ext stalk mirrors.
When I went to mount them today, they
don't angle out like yours do; they go up
and come back. What did you do to make
yours go waaay out? Use extra washers when mounting
to adjust the angle?
TIA,
Terr

THis is what happens with all the yamaha mirrors (IIRC). They have a locking detent that keeps them too close in IMO when "locked" and don't have enough friction to stay in other positions while at speed.
Some have modified the stalk to keep it from locking in the yamaha mounts. I, however, removed the stalk/mirror and mounted it to the superhawk bases. I had to drill the FZ1 stalk mounting hole larger for the honda friction bolt and trim the cosmetic rubber covers flush.
I believe dawg and some others kept the FZ1 bases and modified the detent.

Re: Emgo FZ1 Mirror Install
Yes I kept the Yamaha bases.
You have to position the mirror to where you want and drill a small hole in the outside edge.
I used a small screw as a locking pin to secure it.
I'm at work now so can't take pictures t show you.
If you use the superhawk base you will have to drill the center pivot rivet (on the Emgo brand) and replace it on the SH base with a bolt, nut, & washers
I have never tried this method.
