Do I have clearance Clarence? - Help with Starter
A friend of mine has a business doing bedliners. He uses a very durable product. I have it installed on my chin fairing and i love it.
My question is: Is there enough clearance around the middle part of the starter motor (the cylindrical part) to have it lined, or is it too close to the engine?
I would check myself but my starter is in 30 pieces on my workbench...
If someone can tell me how much clearance is between the starter and the engine (just the middle, cylindrical part of the starter), i can talk to my friend about whether he can apply it thin enough to fit.
Thank you for your help!

since I happen to have a couple of Superhawks laying around on the lifts in a state of nakedness I went and looked. the space on the rear most radius of the starter toward the motor is very small.
Pictures did not come out well so I wont post..and its in such a spot that I could not get a measuring tool in there. But eyeballing it, Id say 1.5~2mm is about all you have.

If it were powder coating no issue at all the bed coating obscene done is much thicker than 1 to 2 mm perhaps it can be laid down center
However in this case I don't think it matters even if it's too thick in the one Clarence limited spot I think it'll just kind of rub through
