Disadvantages of painting the rads?

I was thinking of painting the rads on the Hawk and wanted to get some opinions. Obviously there are no advantages or gains to be had but would any problems arise to speak of? Overheating or anything else? Thanks.

I've been told that Satin black is the best way to go. I painted mine a gloss black but didn't shoot clear on it. I think you'd be ok with shooting any color on it as long as it's not a real thick coat. Also I wouldn't shoot a coat of clear on it either.

Your insulating the heat exchanger.. You will lesson it's ability to transfer heat from the coolant, to the air.

How much? and is it enough to worry about? that's something that would take some data logging to know.

Personally the way i use my SH... and the temps I see with it.... I'll stick with a clean cooling system, great coolant and unpainted radiators. Texas heat plus stop and go local driving demands it.

If you absolutely have to color the cooling fins, look into anodizing. Gonna be pricey but you won't lose much (or any) ability to transfer heat to the air.
