Correct Fairing Mount?

Just got SH bought/serviced and get a knock above 4k rpm and more noticable under heavy accelleration. Knock could be a "ping". Bike idles runs fine otherwise. I noticed the the internal side fairings are missing an inside push clip on both sides. If I line up the clip holes the fairing would be resting on the headers or darn close. Is it possible they remounted the fairing incorrectly even though the screws line up? I'm thinking the fairing in it's current position (missing clips) may be hitting against the pipes? Raining and can't get it back to "stealer" right away and the issue is driving me nuts!!
