Anyone take the stock taillights apart?
Was out in the garage looking at the bike last night, trying to figure out how to get rid of that vast expanse of plastic, and began to wonder...
It looks like the stock taillight may possibly have a red lens over clear on the bottom side. If that's true, taking or cutting the red from that area would allow light to shine out the bottom, then the tag mount could be moved up to where the reflector is now, and there'd be no need for the tag light. Does anyone know if this would work? Or maybe a section could be cut out of the bottom, and a small window of clear acrylic put in it's place?
Also, regarding cutting the rear plastic, do you recommend a reciprocating saw over a dremel tool? Seems like it would be easier to control with less "jumping around".

I cut my rear fender off yesterday. I used a pnuematic angle grinder and covered up everything with a towel. You can cut straight and fast but it "strings" the plastic from heat and what not a bit.
