Aged Superhawk Face-Lift
Hey all!
So I am totally bummed out that I did not get a chance to ride much this year, so I figure I would give my bike a new paint job now that I have a new body for her. What is a good est. price for a new paint job done by a Motorcycle specialist. I dont trust auto repair places since my fairings would be treated like stupid car parts.
Just curious how much a new paint job costs these days.
Thanks,
Chris

I would think between $400 and $1000 depending what you want, and if there is any repair work to be done on the tank or fairings.
I had multiple color rashed and cracked fairings and a small dent in my tank when I sent brought the parts to EmpireGP here in NY. I did a two color scheme and they charged me $650. The quality is 9.5/10. They did a really nice job and there is only 2 or 3 small imperfections that I could find.

Greg~
Do you know any painters in Norfolk area, I can easily pack up the parts and drive them somewhere, but I am trying to check on any local resources before I drive all across the Northeast. Got a nice quote from my Honda dealer, but figured out that they outsource to an auto-body shop. Not good.

No, sorry I don't. Ask around at the beach, specifically the guys with custom paint jobs. Most everyone out there is pretty friendly. We used to hang out at the BP at the corner of Laskin and Atlantic. Probably still a hangout. Not much changes.

Interesting!
Yeah that would be pretty interesting. I figured I would get some NON-SKID and paint my bike with that. I would have a real streat warrior then, and I am sure that I would have a few scars myself.

Thanks for all the comments,
I did it myself, cost was about $250.00 for materials. and about 80 hours. The flake is labor intensive. You must spray out a basecoat "silver', then flake, then clear. After it dries, wet sand clear down smooth. Reassemble bike. Lay out stripes, disassemble bike and spray 2 colors for stripes. Untape stripes. Set all pieces back up and reclear. It can be wet sanded again and buffed to eliminate any edges. I will let it sit for a few months before doing that.
