vtr revival build
Hey guys, i am new on the forum, but not new to vtr's. I owned one a coupke of years back, which i liked, but got sold for a need for speed. I then bought an r1, got sick of overpaying for license here in quebec, rode a few dual sport and spot tourers for the last years and then came across a 99 crashed vtr for a good price.
I am on a thight budjet, so i will have to be creative on this and find cheap parts to fix her up, but this ain't my first project and i should be able to do something really cool with it under 2000$
First off i bought the bike 2 weeks ago, crashed with damage to forks, subframe, left fairings, gas tank, exhaust and rear set. It sat for almost 4 years, 89000kms on the clock and it fired on the first time with a battery boost. good news. Engine runs like a swich watch
My plans so far, black out the frame, swingarm and subframe satin black, body panels and tank gloss white, 2-1 hindle full system, cbr900 front end and 6 spokes wheeels.
I am giving me around a month to put it back road worthy including a full tune up and repairs

good score...what did you pick it up for? I have a similar VTR I need to get to work on I bought for $500....some dummy spray painted the entire bike so I need to strip it down the frame and reassemble after getting the spray paint off things.

Hey mate, that's a good buy.
Keep us posted on your build.
White panels, black frame etc looks great.
Add some blue accents like a Minolta replica, they look way good.
Good luck!
If you do it right you will have a great bike that will keep a lot of later models honest.
Suspension spacer for the rear shock is a must to liven up the steering and CBR600 F4iCalipers really help in the stopping department.
Be warned these things can become an addiction.

I did buy some cbr900 1993 forks and wheels. I will ditch the front one and find a f3 one. I also received stock vtr forks that i bought on ebay, to find out my triples are slightly bent. Wont use them. As for the cbr forks anyone knows what spring rate i should buy to replace the stock soft springs in the 900 forks?
I also received some f4i capilers and a left side muffler in case i would not want to run the 2-1 hindle system. I will be working on it monday and tuesday and i hope to at least test ride it this week. My main concern is the left side fairing. I don't think ill be able to repair it. On the hunt for a used one
