hawk vtr naked/streetfighter build ireland

howdy , gonna start a thread on a build im undertaking at the mo , hope its of some intrest ! hoping it wont go on too long (expecting a month or so i can catch a bit of weather ) assuming we might get some this year ..

i bought a heavily modified naked style firestorm a couple of months ago , bike seemed like a good buy but had no history so a bit of a gamble .

running (i was told )

moriwaki pistons/cams flowed heads, full micron system, fuel pump ,aftermarket programmable ignition, modified airbox/carbs and close ratio gearbox.
(im guessin its ex track ..)

put a few miles on just to make sure everything seemed ok , and happy out, its nuts

not everybody is gonna like the style this bike is headed , dont ye know some fkrs just have to be different and some people are going to prefer it before i chop it up !!!

i believe the bike was sold on ebay in the uk , i than bought it in nortern ireland , currently in dublin

good luck with your build. the top picture looks a bit un balanced. kind of like a girl that is 5 foot tall with a a size cup and a 38 inch waist. put some **** on this bike the *** is to big. lol

I like the repositioned/new oil cooler, do you know what bike it was off ?

It'd sure look nicer than the rusty oil lines & ferrules mine currently sports !

Be good to see it when it's done. I'm in NI, near Dromore.

Cheers,

Paul.

I spotted this 'fighter today on another VTR board. This solves the ugly radiator problem quite well ....

yup there are other options , theres a couple of bikes on here have fantastic mods in this respect , look even much tidier than the bike in the picture ,kals underseat radiator is a neat piece of work !! with my last fighter (the black and orange one in my profile ) i was all concerned about the rads but it just kinda grew on me that there part of the bike , some people comment on them from time to time but they kinda grew on me . i want to do something else this time but went with the side pod thing instead , im gonna try for an aggressive looking bike this time (although white is a strange colour for this ) that and the fact the motor has some tuning work done side pods will suit this whole job better i think

howya paul . i got the bike from belfast from a guy called bedhead on some other forums , didnt meet him i done a deal on the phone and he was straight enough on the phone so i bought it unseen !!!!

a friend living up that way collected it for me .
yep its some job alright im afraid ive no info on the work done regarding the lines etc , but ill take some pictures of the layout in case its any help !!! ill have a look for brandnames etc on the cooler , maybe the guy that done the origonal work will turn up somewhere, that set up (oil lines/cooler) would also be perfect if doing a single rad set up

While you are that far into it, replace the CCTs.

its all been done by the looks of it , im gonna stick in an ebc kevlar clutch and hd springs , and check the valve clearances this week all going well ..

how does that front end work out on your bike? , does it quicken up the steering an a lot? , im worried about making the steerin very quick because ive left nowhere for a damper !!

nice ride btw !!

Well from this pic: https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...3&d=1248035464
it still has the stock CCTs.

The front end is nice. To be honest I probably don't ride hard enough to make full use of it. But it sure smoothed things out and added confidence in the corners.

I'd say that going to the allballz head bearings probably quickened the steering up more than changing the front end did. (I kept the same steering head to axle distance as stock)

You can't put a rotary damper on top of the triple? I will be putting on one mine, but mostly because I got it off ebay cheap.

i dont think i have any room , with the vfr tank , i have a sprint damper for an early blade but theres no room ,

they (ccts) look stock but all the bolts have been changed and im an optimist

(or stupid)

ill look more closely at the front end set up / relation ship to the frame on my stock bike , because i took this frontend complete from a earlyblade ,
and the forks look pretty close to the top hose
might have been wise to check it all out first , ah im sure itll be fine ,,,, it will add to the riding experiance !!

good job Mr. M-Kraft. Looks like a stealth fighter. Awesome. More proof that we have some talented, creative, out-of-the-box thinkers riding these Superhawks.
