The guy is a clown, I say "guy" because he is not a man. "Men" own up pay up and apologize when they screw up. They make things right and earn respect. "Guys" on the other hand try and pretend to be "men", they flee from responsibility, and they think apologizing is for the week. The try to find ways not to pay up and hide from problems hoping that they will go away. They tend to over indulge in "manly" activities like watching sports pounding beer and hitting on females and spending way too much money on there car or truck and on toys. "Men" tend to do similar things but they know the limit because they have a career, a wife, a family, and friends who respect them. All this to say the guy who hit my sisters bike is not a "man."

Hmmm. I'll be heading into Oregon with a couple riding buddies on Wednesday. Do we need to form a posse?

Or at least write out the bill of sale, and inform mr big-car-and-little-brains that he gets x days to cough up the money, then the insurance people gets a crack at it... Should light a fire up his butt...

If you have photos of the build(this thread), then I would call his Insurance Co. and get some restitution. Drivers are mandated to have insurance. In this instance, you need to be paid to have the bike restored to the same condition it was 5 minutes before the driver ran over the bike. The driver is at fault and his Insurance Co. should pay up. Sounds like this "guy" is gonna run around this until he is forced into paying. Use the Law to your advantage. Get a police report and call his Insurance Co. They get paid to settle claims. Stop dealing with the "guy" and get it fixed. Everyone I know that wanted to settle out by the driver responsible wanting to pay cash has gotten screwed. I'm sure you got times, dates and witnesses to the incident. The Police will still make the report.

Its going to get fixed! My sister was finally offered a resonable price of $3500 take home after buying the title back. So as soon as I am ready to fix it we can start.

So the fix has begun... slowly of course.

I just started taking the small damaged parts off one at a time. Clip-ons, master c, headlight, headlight brackets, foot pegs, clutch cable off, fender off, etc, those kind of things. I also started a list of things I will need to buy. My friend and co-worker helped me remove the tank. He actually was the one who yanked the fender off too, I just undid the screws. No one needs to worry about it being to much 90% of the work I did while sitting comfortably in my rolley chair. I skimmed around the bike on it careful to not strain on anything too tight for me to safely pull loose. The dirt on my hands felt awesome, the first real steps for my recovery process IMO. The smile on my face was unmistakeably energetic. I will post pics of the process again like always there probably won't be too many exciting ones for a while since it may be a month before I can be mobile enough to tackle the tank fix/mod.

The "opinion" question of the day...

"Should I wrap the exhaust?"

I will take it easy guys.

I wanted to get things rolling enough that I could make a good list of what really needs to be replaced. Ordering things on the computer wont cause too much strain. If you guys where watching me I don't think you would find it too much. It just sounds like a lot when I type it out is all. Today I won't do much of anything, because most of what is left requires lifting the bike off the ground, that I know would be too much.

Sorry to worry everyone, I will take it a little easier from here.

Wow Corn ... Sorry to hear about the CX ! Thanks God your sister was not chilling on it at the time! Moron ... I really hate idiots like that !

The CX was another remarkable build ... Always hate to see great work destroyed , yet its what keeps us in business. Gotta love the body shop business and your careless , rich clients .... lmao

And what happened to you bud ... are you injured , did i miss something ???

yeah I crashed my superhawk and the end result was a broken back in 3 places, surgery was performed and now I have 10 titanium screws holding my back together. Recovery will probably take about 6 months before I am close to 100% capable again. We shall see though I am staying positive and am hoping to be better a bit ahead of schedule.

Next week my sister is coming down to help take care of my wife and I since we are both laid up... I know... wow... when it rains it pores. So she will be bringing the check from the insurance so soon it will be like Christmas with all the parts poring in at once. Woot I am excited getting things in the mail and at the shop is fun and will of course help me get the bike back to operational condition.

You have a great attitude, Corn. If I were in a roley chair with 10 screws in my back I'd be angry and depressed. I deeply admire your ability to rise above the situation.

new clips

So I never really liked the first clip ons I made. They where chincy and ugly. They did work really well though. They got all bent up in the accident so I decided to use the opportunity to build them again but this time the way I should have to begin with. Here are the pictures of what I cam up with.

Did you hammer in the indents into the gas tank or cut and weld them in?

I am willing to do any kind of machining job for people here. I also keep things very affordable since I love doing the work so much. So send me the schematics and lets have some fun if you are serious.

I'm on vaca right now, but when I get back I'll go through my stuff and see what I have to work with. I'll have to do a little research about what is possible with those things as well . I've been trying to figure out a headlight housing... maybe the wrong tool for the job...

And thanks for the offer (as I was kind of joking out of jealousy)! I have gone through all of your builds on this forum and they really reveal your dedication to a quality job.

Even if you weren't totally serious I was throwing it out there so everyone knows. I am sure people will have me build things for them especially once I start taking shots of the things I can make.

I also probably can make a headlight bucket but I am thinking turning it like the make some pots and pans might be the best technique but I will have to research that some to see if I could do it that way with my setup, since cutting it out of a block would produce a huge amount of waste.

Oh I am excited! I have a huge order of cutting tools coming too, end mills, a hole array of lathe cutting tools, round mill turn tables, high end vices, everything needed to really get going. Its the most spoiled I have ever felt.

Very nice. First recommended purchase is a quick change setup for your tooling. It's the only way I can stand to work on yruyur's lathe/mill.

Wow. Awesome thread. And an awesome bike too. Heartbreaking when you get to the crash. If you ever decide to move East, you can have my V65 Sabre for a cafe build.

I have making progress here and there lately.

Some sliders to keep things on the up and up when things go down.

I also made some progress on the gauge cluster and the brake pedal, but the brake pedal needs the detail bit before being done.
