At least I was able to keep it all un intrusive and 100% reversible.

But.... he blocked almost all the air going into the rads

 

Actually I researched that. I was thinking the vents allowed airflow to draw hot air from the rads but they are there to help with high speed stability....something I will never need so I figure blocking about 30% of that will in no way hurt me or the bike.

The more you search this forum, the more ideas you get and the worse your OCMD.
There is no cure!

 

I do wonder though, I always give a little smirk when I see the 75yr old man in the old camper top truck with rows and rows of reflectors stuck on the back, sides, front and stick on chrome rocker panels so I wonder if I am the modern day equivalent with the added running lights.


I did the front "fog lights" mainly for added visibility. I have had my share of lock ups due to people pulling out in front of me. Same goes for the side markers. I figure the stock reflectors would be much more effective if they lit up and with the new ultra bright COB LED markers out there for 2 or 3 bucks each, it's a cheap and easy mod. I put those on a switch so I could leave them off during the day, or even on if I leave the bike parked on the street, although I need to look up the current draw to make sure it doesn't pull the battery down too much without the engine running.


In the next week or so I will fit the brackets and get the lower fairing prepped and painted. I think I am going to use rubber isolation grommets since it's fiberglass and I want to keep vibration down to a minimal. Going Honda red and maybe some matt black trim for the vents (ala NSR)

 

While not my style, to each his own. Last thing you should do is worry about what other ppl think. If you like it, rock it... with pride. Best advice I can give is to have everything properly installed (ie wiring tucked away neatly etc). I regularly pull light kits of of bikes that will be resold @ the shop. You'd be amazed at some of the hack job wiring.

 

Thanks, I made sure to tuck and zip tie tie the wiring out of sight and out of the way. I did have to wire directly to the battery which I normally dont like to do but I added an inline fuse. I tried to use the existing wiring but the current draw dimmed the lights too much, The only thing I didn't like about my mod is I put the switch on the hot side but the fuse is on the ground side and since the switch mounted to the plastic tray I guess I'm good. It's all water tight and heat shrinked correctly. The beauty is with the switch I don't have to run the markers unless I'm out at night.


I have yet to ride the bike at night ...a problem I will correct very soon.

 

Fuse it or loose it!

Put a photovoltaic eye in there, so your neat lights turn on if you forget. Then hook it up to an accessory line. One that turns on when you turn the key on.
