'98 Project Hawk

Here is my project. It was molested and abused by the previous owner(s). As you can see the tank and tail were repainted, if that's what you want ot call it. I have added the turn signals, replaced the throttle tube, replaced the left peg mount, put the jets back in the correct carbs (they were swapped, 175rear, 178 front), installed the correct plugs, changed all the fluids, removed the PAIR system and a few other things. I have a long way to go, but at least I can ride it.

Pics are at the bottom

You know, I should start a new thread in the Rant section titled "Stupid **** the Previous Owner Did" and you can post your pics up first. Fuggin amazing, son! It's amazing these people don't forget to breathe.

What is the black blob in the 3rd pic, last post?

That blob is the clutch resevoir cap. They "repaired" it with a bunch of epoxy and painted it black. Believe it or not, it didn't leak!

Good idea. I should have taken pictures of the snorkle forced air induction system the previous owner of my SH made with blue electrical conduit.

Wish I could have seen that. A smurf tube intake? That sounds like the minivan / 2" PVC 45deg / cone filter intake I made for my '98 Neon. It ran 15.02 in the 1/4 mile, and I won the St. Louis region SCCA autocross championship with it in '99. Sometimes creative engineering is OK, but the intake of a Superhawk is not the place.

Oh... My... God. That poor, poor Supe... I am glad you saved her! Those photos... The footpegs? WHAT is going on there? And hogging silicon ALL OVER the reservoir? The tank... what's that paint, Krylon? Over the worst damn bondo job I have ever seen? Jesus, man, you have got your work cut out for yourself...

There are very few times I would advocate flogging... This would be one of those rare times...

The poor little bike didn't do anything to deserve this treatment...

Looking Better

It's almost done. I have been racking up some backroad miles and loving it!

NICE! That's what I'm talking about. I'm doing the same to a crashed '99 I bought. She's almost done...

Way to bring her back. She cleaned up nicely. Is it just the 2nd photo, or is your brake fluid black?

No, it isn't black. It is pretty fresh. That is the rubber thing in the resevoir.

JB Welded??? It was still holding when I replaced it, but you could feel it flex.

I sold my Superhawk a few weeks ago to rackovanz. https://www.superhawkforum.com/forums/members/rackovanz-8945/

Yesterday I picked up a 2002 VFR800
