Carb Help

So my carbs have been acting up ever since I pulled them this spring to clean them as part of my yearly maintenance (New fuel filter, Air filter, Jets, gaskets, A/I mix screws o-rings and washers). Everything was put back together the way it came out, I reset the mix screws to 2.5 turns, new gas the entire 9 yards. Now I'm having driveability issues. It idles fine on the side stand but when I ride it bogs down and tries to stall, it shutters like mid jet isn't getting enough fuel so I go WOT and it bogs then snaps and goes and thats the only way it will run. between 5-8k rpm. I need suggestions on what to do? I dont mess with hondas much and this is my DD mainly because I cant afford a Duc being those are my certification and passion.

Sounds like the diaphragm\s are not seated properly.

Push up on each slide and then let it go?

Can you hear the air move through the slide and does it close slowly?
If so they are correct.

If there is no noise or the slide just drops closed, then you need to re-seat the diaphragms.

The diaphragms are seated correctly, and the carbs are off the bike because im waiting on the choke housing to come in. It had broken. I dont understand why that housing is made of plastic rather than metal?

They are made of plastic so you don't cross thread them and destroy the carb body.

SO if the diaphragms are correct then I would check for PVLIR.

Yo Seth! Winston-Salem huh. I got me a house there. I really like that little city. Although I mainly live in Los Angeles.
Sounds like you know what your doing on the carbs, but if you ever need help just give me a shout. I know a little bit about Superhawk carbs, also Mike (8541Hawk) has a very long thread on here all about setting them up. Good luck , Merry Christmas to all.

I get on a plane to fly to W-S on Saturday, looks like no snow again this year. About three years back we got 6" on Xmas day, was awesome for my kids, Living in Los Angeles they had never really seen snow.

After being down since the spring, and finally buying a hard copy of the service manual, I had the vacuum line connected to the vent on the petcock. I feel like such a ********. Needless to say, fresh gas and a little bit of carb clean and she fired up perfectly on the 3rd turn. Thanks guys.

No need to feel badly. It's a well trodden path.
