I'm sorry I don't get it. You bought tubes from China that don't match up to your tubes and somehow think they're going to work,

Good luck with that, but let me say for the record "we told you so".

Nah I think I'll keep em! combing the web I found a tone of VTR1000f fork tubes and non of them look OEM.. well not like mine.. the diameter is the exact same and based on appearance only, the quality looks to be good. flex will be the next question and I won't know that until I take them out for a spin and hit the brakes.. odds are I won't even know then. I don't see any reason they won't work so I'm going to give them a try if I don't like them I'll look for a OEM replacement (used forks).

Does anyone have any picturs of there forks? lowers, where the holes are?
I'm still curious if there all the same.. I looked at the Racetech website and they say there fork tubes only fit 97-2000.. I'm not trying to open that can of warms again.. but I would like to see what a pre 2001 fork tube looks like taken apart

BTW I'm posting these pictures and my observations for the forums benefit. I don't much care if you don't trust the Chinese products.
My bike, My choice, My life - if I'm wrong... I get that. So for those who want to “Warn me” unless YOU put these tubes on YOUR bike.. I don’t want to hear it!

Sorry but I'm getting a little frustrated by all the negativity.

Are you replacing one fork or both?

Sorry but I'm getting a little frustrated by all the negativity.
Folk are concerned about you coming a cropper from cost cutting.

Did you measure the OD on those things?

they will work.. there is no doubt about that.. they are 41mm (same diameter) the same length and the forks go together with no difference from the OEM tube, threads at top fork stopper at bottom, all match. I measured weight and found that they were ~100 grams heavier then OEM (OEM = 1411g (3.1107lb) and after market = 1521g (3.353lb) the fork seals fit what feels to be identical to the oem tubes when sliding them up and down the shaft. I attempted to measure the volume (using a 2" abs pipe with a cap on one end and putting the fork tube in side, then fill to brim with water, dump water to measuring cup and compare) I tried twice for each tube and came up with the same 2 litres of water every times.. so I'm guessing my method isn't accurate enough to show a difference. the only other test I'm aware of to test metal objects is the Ping test.. where you suspend the metal object and hit it to make PING like a gong! if there are any inclusions in the metal the gong will sound very dull.. I tired. hard to say.. it wasn't dead but it wasn't very lively either.. again both tubes sounded very much the same.. so again not very conclusive.. short of destructive testing I don't see any way to prove to my self or anyone else that these are good or bad..

I took some more measurments today
OEM Vs Aft.Mkt.
Weight
1411g vs 1523g
Wall thickness
2.25mm vs 2.5mm
Overall Length
363mm vs 366mm
Outside diameter
40.9mm vs 41mm
Bushing area
all measurments were identical
Holes near bottom
2 holes @ 65mm vs 4 holes @ 32mm (from bottom)

Everything else is the same..

In the end I am confident that they will work just fine. So I'm going to use them.. PS..someone asked if I bought 1 or 2, yes I bought 2 so both forks will be the same. I wouldn't mix OEM and these. shouldn't make a difference but I don't like the idea.. there still may be a spring difference between the two and mixing could cause a real problem, like grabbing the brake and finding the bike starts to turn as one fork flexes more then the other..
