Now, I knew they'd be better but it's the degree of change that's incredible. I'd been bitching about the front end feel and handling characteristics as compared to my '90 ZX-7. But taking off the Dunlop D204 stock front - still had tread but was starting to cup - and the Conti Road Attack rear (was ok then went to threads in two spirited rides!) on the 2003 5K+ bike was dramatic! The Michelin Pilot Power 2CT front and Road2 rear make the ride more what I like; smooth ride, easy drop-in, confident front feel, hard-wired line adjustment, etc. I'm going to Deals to find some SHOG Rally riders with a grin tommorrow!

i definitely dont like dunlop tires. at least not the ones ive used. im trying shinko 005 advance radials right now and i think they kick ***.

I always had BT-20, I installed a BT-21, firts ride out, forgot I had a new tire for at least a corner and sled the rear like a freakin noob and barely saved it MX style.
I hope it gets better.
I'm due for stickier tires, but I'll give a chance to those to break in.
I heard good things about pilot power
What I like from the BT-20/21, is the 8-9000 miles lifespan.

no matter what tire you use... street or track: it is very easy to tell when the rear tire starts to square off just by looking at it, also if you have any sence of what your tires are doing you'll feel the transition onto & off this false edge. the front however is harder to tell, but if your like many who run 2 rears to 1 front you'll notice a BIG difference in turn in ( and front wheel stability ) putting a new front on.

i only run race DOT tires ( i don't commute at all, just track of spirited rides ) so i don't count mileage as much as heat cycles. imo, never skimp on tires, we ask a lot from them.

I love fresh tires.They are like flowers,so wonderfull at first and then slowly but eventually you realize They're done for.The heat cycle thing is interesting.By my calculations I get 10 rides out of my tires.with 6 to 8 heat cycles per ride.Thats 60 or 80 cycles if you round up it's 100 If I go up to 15 rides thats still 90 - 120 cycles.Round down and it's 100 That sure is a suspicious number Im off too seach the internet

Ah, fresh flowers! I've been looking at/smelling the roses for the past week! Remember the old Heinz ketchup commercial - anticipation? My new Metzeler Z6 rear has been smelling up the house so good. I too had a stock front and the Conti rear when I bought the SH, what a **** combo. I've since put a Z6 front on and it's soon time for the rear to be mounted. I want get some pics of a nice aromatic burn-out first.

8-9000 miles on a rear tire? Wow, what kind of grip is it getting to last that long? I'm hoping the Z6 will last at least 6000.

Im back,apparently tire's are designed for "hundreds" of heat cycle's.I tried a set of Z6 last winter,I thought they were pretty good,You can push them surprisenly hard.

Mine only lasted maybe 1500+ miles,but I used them as sport tire's.No comuting or freeway miles.They were ok but I did notice the stiffer side wall.Which might be the advantage of the 2ct's,
