Who wants CCT's
So Ive decided to make a big decision.
Im going to have about 100 blanks cut out with a waterjet. Ive had more interest than I though I would so Im going to have to step up production.
It takes about 2 hours to build an individual cct by hand like im doing now. If I have the blanks pre cut it will take about 30 min each.
In the end it will let me get the CCT's out to you good people faster, and the end result will be a better project.
Im going to the water jet place in the morning to get a quote.

alright, to whoever is interested. Im having about 100 cct blanks cut out. That means Ill have about 50 sets to sell. About 5 are already spoken for and there are about 10 other people interested.
Any reason a seal washer similar to what Greg posted, minus the triangular wedges for the threads, wouldn't work? I can't find that type at work, but we do have these "Coin & Spline" seals.
Im not satisfied with the orders already made, So im having some blanks water jet cut.
Im also waiting on some thread seals. Ill give a rough guess and say ill have them shipped WITHIN 2 weeks.

Even with the o-ring there, after a few years the o-ring hardens and fails to seal. I tried replacing one but you have to stretch it over two nuts and by the time you've done that either the o-ring snapped or it's too big to start with. I ended up using RTV on the threads and that stopped the weeping for now. It just seems to me that if you're making a new product then why not make it better than what's out there. Even though I'm a mechanic, I have a limited knowledge of thread sealing devices. I'm thinking nylock nut with a sealing washer for the locknut, but then it'd be too difficult to turn with the limited space. Maybe you have some ideas.
For clarification, these are the seals that will be used <link> . They don't have the "triangle" wedges, but they will seal between the locknut & the aluminum. Should they wear out, they are available at any Caterpillar dealer, part number 5L-5840. As long as I work there I'll be able to get them for anyone who needs replacements.

Nice job on the cct's Truck.
Thanks everyone. If I get the thread seals by wednesday I should be shipping by friday.
I just Got a home powdercoating kit and will probably start powdercoating the cct's.
