Several people have told me to put in a power commander to really make it scream.
Then I tell them it is carbed and they say Oh. (you can see the look in their eyes of dislike)

I had the heads off my ducati and my girlfriend and her dumbass friend came over.

She said "look it has cupholders" pointing at my cylinders. I shook my head and ignored her for the rest of the day.

You should have told her that her mouth is a dick holder.

that look is because now to talk performance mods they would actually have to know something.

my friend (a squib) with an R6 said "Dude! what happened to your lower fairing?!?"

I wish I would have said somehting smart like "There was a recall last month"

But I just explained, very slowly, that not all bikes have full fairings...sigh

And did you let them??

On my SH I love run up through the gears, that means 20+ speed limits fairly often. Putting myself in more dangerous situations because I'm having fun with the ride.

Ride them both the same and of course you're right.
But nobody does.

I get "dude! you've got a light out!" on the RC51 and my old F4i.

Another "Does it have powerbands?" Then I try to explain a powerband and am met with glazed over eyes while their jaw is still yakkin away.

Cool

I tell people that i bought a v-twin honda, when they see it, they say, i did not think it would be a crotch rocket. I kindly explain, CR stands for cafe racer. as i am 50 years young, i get asked why i did not get a hog. I explain that hogs are slow and heavy!

Happens every time I walk into some place in full gear:

"Do you ride a motorcycle?"

"No, I drove my car and just like the extra protection."

Here's your sign.

your speed has nothing to do with your safety. you could be going 300 and be safer than walking. what you do with your speed can be dangerous. I am far safer weaving my way through traffic than I am if I'm sitting behind a semi doing 45. and while you might not be going very fast, whose safer? the guy on the cruiser doing 40 with 5 cars lined up behind him staring off into the distance cause "the view is so pretty"? or the guy doing 65 who is focused on the road?

the point of the safety thing isn't what you can and can't do safely on a bike its about a motorcycles qualifications of safety, ie maneuverability, stopping distance, and even acceleration. We aren't trying to measure the ease of stupidity for the bike, or whether its "unsafe" because it brings out your inner hooligan . But I digress.

Back on track, I hate it when people treat me like a squid because of what I ride and my age. I don't ride like one, I don't own a gixxer, and I've ridden more miles then a lot of people twice my age. So the comment "you are going to kill yourself on that." is stupid, I know the risks, back off.

I wouldn't go that far. Speed is always a factor.

The guy riding faster but paying attention may be less likely to crash, but is still at risk of getting knocked off by an incompetent cager. And hitting the pavement at 65 always hurts more than 40.

People who makes statements like "crotch rocket", "you'll kill yourself on it" and the like have no expertise or knowledge. The world is full of self-appointed (and annointed) experts (and, curiously, many of them ride Hardleys) who have no clue what they are speaking of. Having spent considerable saddle time on a bunch of cruisers in my last job, I can objectively state the VTR is quicker, better handling, brakes better, more comfortable, more responsive and more fun to ride than any of them, and by a very significant margin. I have ridden 1000+ km days on my VTR, something I would NEVER attempt on any of Milwaukee`s crap (or the Japanese imitations).

I dream of a Harley-free world, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

My agrivation starts with the clever little play on words that everyone seems to think they thought of first...

Super chicken
Super ****

Then we get to.... Wow! Thats the biggest one lunger I've ever seen!

....moving on to.... Couldn't afford a duc?

On to... Why did you make it sound like a HD?

ending with... you should turbo/nos/supercharge/flux capacitor that thing!

I just pretend I can't hear people if I hear them ask something now... Unless it's a hot chick... I can oblige a little ignorance from a hottie...a little...

I am always up for having a hot chick on the back. And I am still in the market for a god damn flux capacitor that will fit on the bike.

you could have replied: "No, I was just taking my jacket, helmet and gloves for a walk when I spotted this bike. Thought I`d see what it felt like to sit down on one"
