Well, I guess I should introduce myself...
Well, I guess I should introduce myself...
i just picked up a 98 hawk as something to play with, i've ridden cruisers mostly up until now, been riding a harley for the last year...after riding a friend's zx6 i decided i needed a sportbike to go fast on, but i didn't want one of those torqueless I-4's
then i came across the superhawk...took it out for a test ride and came back with a huge grin on my face and cash in hand
the bike has 17.5K on the clock and rides great and has also been well maintained
i already put a set of pilot powers on, changed the oil with mobil1 synthetic, planning on new brake pads front and rear...anything else i should be doing to make sure i'm safe whilst hauling *****?
also can someone give me a link to the TPS mod instructions?
i read through all 111 pages of the forum, didn't read every topic, of course, but probably 1/3rd
at least i'm more knowledgable about the bike now
and of course, the pics:

Welcome. With much assistance from the members here I di the following right away: 1) QC at the local dealer ran me $35, 2) Fluid exchange including flushing the brakes (SS lines added - biggest difference was the front brake), 3) Fork oil (most choose to change out the springs), 4) At 17k valve adjustment wouldn't hurt if needed, 5) sync the carbs. Happy riding.
