Tyre pressure 2 up?

Ive just started riding 2 up and even had a custom seat made.

What tyre pressure do you guys run in the back?

My girl is complaining about the bumps being strong so I wondered if its a bit hard at 42 psi.

Im running an Ohlins on its stock settings.

Helloo. Another Kiwi here, from down Dunedin way.
I run mine on about (psi) 35f 38r, Racetech springs front, stock shock.

I'll restrain myself, but it is tempting....

Bit of background. My girl had a huge accident 2 years ago. Hit a car head on at 50mph on her bike. Apart from all the other injuries her pelvis was shattered. Its still not healed and never will. She loves riding but does not have the ability to anymore. So she has just got strong enough to pillion. I had a seat custom made.

So the more comfortable I can make her the better. Next time I will drop the pressure back a bit and drop the comp back to.

I would like to get an ST1100 or the likes but a bit hard on one income.

If you go as low as 38 2 up you will sacrafice steering geometry making the bike steer slower. (this is undesireable). Try 40 psi but ease off on the shocks compression damping. Go really low and slowly bring it back.

You have a geat shock so tire pressure should not be what you use to ease bumps. 2 up already squats the rear and slows steering so dont make it worse.

Oh and try 35 front.

Sensitive Touche

Have you ever tried the Airhawk seat cushions. I used one on my trip to the Tail of the Dragon recently and I would still be walking funny if I had not. I has a bladder filled with air so it does cushion the ride some.

Yes we have one. But move around way to much on it.

Proper air pressure... AS recommended by Honda.. 36/42.. ONLY if you are going to be really pushing(really carving curves) Then 32/40...Yet as noted by prior post... Under pressure/ or Over pressure does change geometry of the bike suspension....

Wife, and I riding Hwy129 on 2001 S-Hawk with (suspension tuned/ GMDcomputrack) riding 36/42psi on 120/70/17, 190/55/17 tires

Winding compression off really fixed this. I didnt like the feel of 40psi so went back to 42.

We like corners.

I concur, although I run a standard 180 rear and a 2k Hawk.

Nice man. Surprised how well the bike handles 2 up.
