Not asking what tire is the best, don't want to start that discussion. what I'm looking for is input from direct experience with Dunlop RS4.
That said, anyone using or have used to the end of it's life, Dunlop RS4? If so, comparison to other brands/model that you've used? I'm most interested in the handling and feel of the bike when the tire is past it's half way point and if there has been any stability issues.
Currently running Conti RA3. Overall good in the beginning, but as the rear is squaring off the the sensitivity to road surface irregularities is very pronounced. To the point of thinking that the rear is going flat. Note: the Conti RA3 is a quite stiff carcass tire. I mount the tires myself and the front was a struggle. Wondering if a softer carcass tire would be less sensitive. I know there will always be some movement over grooves and such.
Went at the rear with a belt sander while the bike was on a stand. Carefully contoured the profile to remove some of the flat. It helped quite a bit to reduce the squirm and tracking over said irregularities. Really don't like or want to do this sort of hack. I don't remember the other brands of tires being as sensitive as they aged.
I have been getting one front to two rears per change. Have used: Michelin (Pilot Power?) 2CT two (maybe three) rears, worked well enough, didn't last that long, not so good in the wet. Pirelli Angel two rear, overall good, but the second rear started to de-laminate and by that time the front had an odd profile. Now on the second rear with the Conti RA3. Funny that I don't remember the last rear acting the same.
I have done a wiggle test of the wheel bearing with the bike on a stand and it seems good. Head stock bearings don't exhibit any play. The wear is even on the tires, so I don't think it's that.The bike is planted and stable at higher speeds with all of the tires I've used. So I don't think it's the bike causing it. Slower speeds 5-50mph over rough, grooved, uneven and patchy pavement is when it's most noticeable. I don't ride that fast when the road surface is bad, maybe that's the problem. I just need to haul *** everywhere.

Not wanting to start a tire thread per se but have you ever considered the bridgestone S22
My experience is that it stays very consistent through 6000 miles after that it starts to degrade
It has good turn in and the rear seems to absorb irregularities very well and is also is very good in the wet not that I like to ride in the rain but it's good to know. It isn't also very sensitive to tar snakes.
You also can find pretty good pricing on them particularly when it coincides with the Bridgestone $50 pair rebate

I actually sometimes like riding in the rain; it's just I hate having to clean and lube the bike afterward. Last set I bought were just over $210 shipped after their rebate debit card!
