Thinking about Buying a Super Hawk....
Greetings. I am considering buying a Super Hawk. I will mostly be using it for a commuter bike and some light sport touring.
The bike I am looking at is in very good condition and has 25k miles on it. Adult owned. How are the VFR1000 bikes on maintenance? Do they have the typical Honda reliability and ease of maintenance? What would be considered a high mileage Super Hawk?
Thanks.

25k is just getting warmed up. They are very reliable with a couple of weak points.
The CCT's are known to fail and cause major internal damage when they do. This can be fixed by anyone willing to get a little dirty with basic mechanic skills and for around $100.
The R/R is also a failure point, which if it goes out won't charge the battery and can leave you stranded. Also can be replaced with a much better unit with basic electrical skills and around $100.
Other than those two fixable things, everything else is whatever you want it to be. You can ride it stock well past 80k miles or mess around with suspension/jetting/carbs and so on until you run out of money or time!
For what it's worth I use mine for commuting and the occasional weekend recreational run and it is an amazing do it all street bike. It has around 32k miles on it. Can't ride one without a **** eatin' grin!

Get one -- they're really sweet bikes
Value wise I think you can't beat em - I got mine with I think 13k for $1900 - was in the market for an sv650 but those were going for an $3000.
Actually most people advised me against it and I reluctantly got it because I didn't have money for the sv650 - never regretted it.
I use it for daily commuting and the weekend twisties - she is such a well behaved, forgiving and fun bike - especially if you're maneuvering in three dimensions going up or down while banking left or right.

Yeah +1 on being near the top of the list of most bike for the money. Have to throw the 1st gen FZ1 in the mix too since I did own one and have a soft spot for it as well, plus it's pretty much perfect for what you're looking for.
