That sucks. Thumbs up for the full face icon it could have been worse. Dont give up on your hawk yet there are alot of us here who have spare parts just collecting dust.

How long have you been riding? or how long have you had your driver's license?

I drove around in cars for 10 years before I got my motorcycle license, not because I couldn't ride on the road; heck, I rode my bicycle everywhere as a bike messenger before I got my driver's license. Just the close calls I've seen on bicycles makes me realize there are more danger on public roads than riding anywhere else.
If you have not learned how to respond to stupid drivers on the road, likely that you would loose control of the bike to avoid accidents.

 

I was taking off from a red light. I can't remember if I was going from 1-2 or 2-3 and I usually shift with 2 fingers, and they just slipped off the clutch lever I didn't get a good enough grip, and it was pretty much doing a clutch up wheelie, and I just fell off pretty much going around 40mph.
I don't know how else to explain it lol

 

It's good to try and figure out what went wrong and learn what to do the next time similar situation occurs.
I hope you heal quickly. If you enjoy riding more than crashing; get a smaller (less torquey) bike next and just ride.

sorry for the wreck. glad you are mostly okay. what were you wearing on your legs as far as riding gear goes. i can't tell are they riding jeans or just plain denim? just curious, thanks.

 

Sadly they were just plain denim =/ I did have a alpinestars jacket and a icon helmet, I recommend both if you are looking to buy gear!

Yeah, it's not fun having 90% road rash below the knees, nothing above thankfully. This broken ankle is kicking my *** though

Im j/k I went down a few years ago and ended up fracturing my foot when I picked my bike up. Out and off my feet for atleast 6 weeks. Glad I had on my gear.

Think I'm going to get some riding denim/kevlar for work now. I am embarrassed to admit I skip out on that one when I commute. Boots/gloves/helmet/jacket/state of mind- got all of that. 40mph really isn't that fast...

Good to hear you survived! Nasty rash you have there. Get well soon and go on to build again, I know how bad it hurts to smash the bike.

 

Time to shave those legs and scrub out the gravel in the wounds.
It may sound painful.. and probably will be, but it will make wounds heal faster.
It's why those hardcore cyclists have smooth shaved legs, chics dig it, too.

 

They did that at the hospital, that hurt like a bitch. Shaved legs? lol my girl throws a fit if I shave my chest haha

 

Going down sucks, but at least you're alive to talk about it. I totaled my F3 two summers ago and bounced my head/helmet off a steel guardrail, actually cracking the the thing in the process! I also had some nasty road rash up both sides of my body (legs, hips, sides, arms and shoulders). If chicks really dig scars, you and I will be SET!

Yo bro, glad you made it out "okay." Hey MSF tought me...and based on what you said. 2 finger breaking, 2 finger clutching No, No, No...Use all 4 and un-learn those bad habits. Maybe in a "racing" scenario things are different. But I ride on the streets and it's been tought..."we are our own worst enemy."

 

Yeah I know 2 fingers is a no no =/ and I used to race 250 2 stroke Kawasaki dirt bikes a few years back.. That's where I learned the bad habit
